Stressed Skin Cantilever

This structural exercise included the construction of a purely stressed skin system made of just four pieces of 1/8" plywood. The components were soaked in water, then molded in custom molds to attain the desired shape.  The wood was then fused together using wood glue and a wooden gusset at the adjoining edges.  The end product  yeilded a 12 lb. cantilever that was able to withstand 236 lbs. of force before failing.
